In 1995 we left Florence to follow the dream of a healthier life, closer to nature and away from the urban stress, cultivating the land and living in an old farmhouse near Siena.
Our dream came true in the magnificent area of the ‘Crete Senesi’, literally meaning the Senesi Clays.
An area often described as a ‘lunar landscape’ (due to the sediments of the Pliocene sea which covered the area millions of years ago), still unexplored, with open views over smooth, harmonious hills.
The beginning was hard, for the first six months we lived without water, electricity or gas.
We learned construction technique and how to appreciatethe local materials, such as travertine, terracotta and chestnut timber.
While cultivating the land, we learned how to appreciate the joys and challenges, as we saw the dream of a life coming true through the work of our own hands.
Now we live and work in this ‘paradise’. The luxuriant vegetation, silence, peace and intense colours are with us through the changing seasons - a thousand shades of green, yellow and grey.
